SMF : Digi Camo Old & New

After some outdoor photo's I made an inside all white comparison shoot to show the differences as good as posible.

Recently I came across an old style digi camo SMF and I could not resist to catch this near mint knife.

Some searching on the USN on this type of SMF Digi Camo took me back to 2005 when these seem to be made.

If I am wrong on the year, please correct me and post update info.

Since I also own a new type digi camp finish SMF, I thought it would be nice to show the differences, and made some pics.

The Desert Tan with darker blade is the old style wile the Coyote Brown the current style for those who are new at this.

It also has a nice old Ti flaming, original Hinderer LBS disk and BOS heat treat stamp.

The old style coating has less laser added parts, and it shows more black oxide.

Strider SMF : Digi Camo Finish

Yet another flawless piece of cutlery by Strider Knives. I just like to share this with all you Strider addicts. Beautifull blade finish, Steel grade CMP S35VN, 5mm blade stock. The blade shows brown/bege most of the time, but is verry light sensitive. I tried to capture some of this beauty in a few pictures.

As far as I know Strider Knives Inc is the only manufacturer who makes this high wear resistant blade finish. Besides this practical feature, it looks just awesome in my book. Turning the angle slightly creates a different color tone and brightness. Light spots become dark and vice versa.

Ranger Green

These pictures are from a Ranger Green variant I used to own. I made them last year and show a different color palet. They were posted on my blog in an older post before, but I figured I better put all Digi Camo pictures joined in this post only.

Strider SMF : Hand Ground Tanto

I was so lucky to achieve this hand ground tanto with hollow grind. This is not a regular Strider tanto. Mick Strider hand ground a few 'regular' blades especially for SHOT 2011. Some were sold directly at SHOT and some later by official Dealers. How many there are around, I believe no one realy knows.

It realy is a pleasure to make photos of this knife. The vertical grind lines in combination with the hard tanto out lines realy works for me. I had to go out side three days in a row to gather these three sort of matching pics. All different light at different hours of the day.
